Basketball game

This is a good review game and can be used for any language item, from simple vocabulary to grammar or cultural aspects of the language.
Equipment needed: A stick-on basketball hoop and a soft ball. A rubbish bin can be a good substitute for the hoop. I like the hoop I have - it was very cheap and it is really bouncy, which means more points are gained from correct answers rather than sporting ability!
The game is similar to many other quiz games, with the students in teams. The first person/team to answer a question correctly gains a point, with a bonus point if they can shoot a basket. Very simple, takes no set-up time, and is a favourite with the students.

Hear Canticum Chamber Choir

Canticum's first subscription concert is on Good Friday at 6pm in St John's Cathedral, Ann St, Brisbane.
In German will be "Warum hast du mich verlassen?" by Mendelssohn, "Herr auf dich traue ich" by Nicolai (19th century composer, as was Mendelssohn) and "Komm süßer Tod" by Nystedt (a contemporary Norwegian composer).
In Latin will be Nystedt's "O Crux" and "Lamentationes Ieremiae Prophetae" by Alonso Lobo, a Spanish Renaissance composer.
Tickets are $25/$18 and further information about Canticum is at http://www.canticum.asn.au.

For those lovers of choral music who are not in Brisbane, Canticum's performance last night of Bach's Johannispassion with the Queensland Orchestra will be broadcast on Good Friday evening at 8pm on ABC Classic FM, either 106.1FM on the radio, or http://www.abc.net.au/classic/audio/ for online listening. Ignore the dreadful coughing by some audience members and concentrate on the dramatic interpretation of this choral masterpiece.
